Geoffrey Wong has been a member and Concertmaster of the Valley Symphony Orchestra for 24 years, performing regularly for the seasonal concert series and chamber concert programs. Born in Shanghai, China, Wong started playing violin at the age of 6 with his mother's support. Wong was awarded a scholarship to Rice University in Houston while studying violin performance at the Hong Kong Conservatory. With English as a second language, he said the transition was difficult, but he found solace in practicing his instrument.

After attending Rice University, Wong taught violin at the University of Texas-Pan American for two years along with teaching private lessons in McAllen. Wong moved around the Valley directing and teaching music in various schools. Today he owns and operates his own private violin studio in McAllen, which helps prepare approximately 40 music students for college and competitions seven days a week. Students must undergo a rigorous interview process to be inducted into his school. Aside from teaching and performing locally, Wong also performs with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic twice a year.
